One of the earliest families to farm Pine View Ridge.
Daniel was born in Madoc Ontario to Elisha Phillips and Jane Mitts. He married Prudence Reddick in 1873. Their family consisted of eight children. Daniel was a labourer. Daniel and Prudence arrived at Pine View Ridge not long after their marriage in 1873.
In 1891 Daniel was fully settled in Tudor and Cashel township. He farmed on the ridge on lot six ,concession 16, property he owned.
Their children were as follow: David, John, Earnest, Albert, Addalinda, Rosetta, Lavina, and Robert
