James H. Sprackett

James (Jim) Henry Sprackett was born May 12, 1887.

Jim married Clara Bell Faul on July 1, 1908.  He was living at Sprackett’s Corners on Lot 4, Concession 18 in Tudor Township.  Clara died at the age of twenty-one of appendicitis.  They had no children.  When the appendicitis struck she was put on the train to Toronto for her surgery.  She succumbed to her illness.

Jim then married Maud Potter on June 19, 1912.  They had two boys Ross and Don and their daughter Laura.  All of the Sprackett children were born at Sprackett’s Corners.

Jim’s third wife was Gladys McGee.

Jim’s fourth and final marriage was to Gladys’ sister Aileen.  Neither of these two marriages produced children.

Even at the age of 11 years Jim was working in the logging industry.

Sprackett was Reeve of Tudor and Cashel Township for twenty nine years.  He served as Councillor for an additional sixteen years.  He was Warden of Hastings County in 1955.

Jim died May 16, 1980.
