(The following information was from the Pentecostal Testimony dated December 1986)
Mrs. Violet May Mallory’s father was a circuit-riding preacher with the Free Methodist Church.
Violet was born Violet May Gunter, May 7 1906, the youngest daughter of the late Abram Gunter and Mary Kemp.
After leaving the Free Methodist Church, Bill and Violet Mallory brought the Story of Revival and the message of Pentecost to Gunter and the surrounding area around 1949 or 1950.
Mrs. Mallory preached the Gospel for 63 years and held her first pastorate in Napanee at the age of 20. Shortly after receiving her licence to preach the Gospel, she met Reverend William W. Mallory. They were married in 1928.
Between 1928 and 1950 they held numerous pastorates and were in active evangelistic work throughout Ontario and the Maritimes.
In 1950 they pioneered the work in the Gilmour area. In 1973 she was welcomed into the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
On May 10, 1986 a celebration of her 80th birthday was held in the basement of Mount Zion Church.
Reverend Violet May Mallory entered into her reward on September 10, 1986 in her 81st year.
Violet May Mallory was loved and respected by all; our lives are richer as a result of the Gospel she preached and lived in her daily life.
Her work at Mount Zion Church continues today.
